Mary O’ Rourke presents school awards.
 
Political veteran and current T.D. for Longford- Westmeath was guest of honour at the annual Ardscoil Mhuire award ceremony on Tuesday 25th May.
 
 Fresh from her recent appearance on The Late Late Show, the former Minister for Education commented that she was “fascinated and enthused by all the fantastic spirit in this school.” adding :
 “ I hope you all go forward imbued with the confidence you got in Ardscoil Mhuire.”
 
 
Annie Claffey proved a popular recipient of the 2010 Bank of Ireland Student of the Year award.
Upcoming soprano Rachel Goode, who has secured a scholarship to the Royal Irish Academy of Music, was also honoured, for her contribution to the musical life of the school. Traditional musician Laura Kenny also received an award for her generous and prolific talent.
 
  The Connacht Junior Camogie champions were presented with their Connacht medals after their comprehensive defeat of neighbours St. Cuans in the Connacht final.
 
Other notable awards included Emma Butler for the Mary Casey Perpetual Trophy, Bernadine Dooley and Jessica Holland for excellence in the Creative field, Mei Ou was awarded the Réalt award, acknowledging the challenges she has successfully overcome to adjust to a new language and culture.
Academic awards were received by Colleen Clinton, Kim Kelly, Deirdre Kelly and Aisling Costello, First year. Mairead Barrett, Jennifer Kelly, Dominika Brodzisz and Caitlin Mc Mahon, Second year. Third year recipients included Deirdre Egan, Emma Finnerty, Ciara Corbett and Linda Kearns. Niamh Kelly, Rachel Walker and Niamh O’ Sullivan received the honours in Fifth year. This year’s Leaving cert Academic accolade will be determined by Leaving Cert results. The Parent’s council have kindly sponsored a laptop for the successful student.
 
 Leaving Cert Applied students Deirdre Headd and Una Mannion were honoured for their achievements, attitude and positive contribution to the L.C.A. programme.
 
 The Cara award recognises a student’s contribution to the spirit of the school. Students are nominated by their peers for their friendliness, kindness to others and approachability. This year’s Cara awards went to Siobhán Malone, Louise Burke, Maeve Egan, Laurie Ward, Maeve Dillon and Sinéad Kelly.
 
 Congratulations to all this year’s worthy recipients.
